Suggest Treatment For Meniers Syndrome

good morning,
I am a 28 year old male. i was diagnosed with Meniers syndrome about 2 years ago. after about a year of attacks and about 30 visits to the ENT it the attacks finally went away after they had put my gromit in. it was only meant to stay for 6 months but now over a 1 and a half years it is still in there. I have recently got a very bad cold and now it is blocked and very painful. would an ENT be able to unblock it or remove it without surgery? Also i have lost most of my hearing in this year and it has not stopped ringing since the 1st day i got the very 1st attack.

Hi, thank you for posting your query on health care magic.

I can understand your concern.

You are suffering from Meniere's disease and at present Ear blockage due to cold.

You may find relief by taking following medicines:
Oral decongestant like Phenylephrine and Nasal decongestant drops like Xylometazoline (if you are not suffering from high blood pressure, heart disease, kidney disease,glaucoma-high pressure in the eyes), Antihistaminic like Cetrizine, Mucolytic like Ambroxol.

Also do steam inhalation.Drink lot's of fluids (warm).Avoid dust and cold food.

For Meniere's disease, you may find relief by taking following medicines :
Antivertigo medicines like Betahistine or Prochlorperazine during attack of giddiness and
Diuretic.

Also avoid high salty diet.Avoid triggers like chocolate, caffeine drinks, etc.Avoid listening to loud sounds.

If you are suffering from reduced hearing, then it would be advisable to have a hearing test called pure tone audiometry.Generally in your case, the result of the test would be sensorineural hearing loss.In that case, you may find relief by wearing hearing aid with tinnitus masker ,which will help in masking tinnitus also.

If you have chronic attacks of giddiness, then you may find relief by doing Vestibular rehabilitation exercises like Cawthorne Cooksey exercises.

Hope this answers your question.Take care.
