Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Oh hi. I fractured my 4th metacarpal (spiral). Completely non-displaced, almost looks like a hairline fracture. Happened Sept 23. Got my cast off today, new x-ray shows still location of fracture. Was sent home with no follow up appt, no splint. Just buddy tape.
Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you got hairline crack fracture 4th metacarpal .You got treated it by cast.Your cast has been removed today. New x-ray shows still location of fracture. No need to worry. Fracture lines are visible for 4-6months after fractures. These lines become invisible only when there will be complete deposition of calcium in bone. As you had only undisplaced fracture so just buddy tape is sufficient. For pain relief you can take analgesic such as ibuprofen whenever you have pain. Calcium, Vitamin B and C are helpful in recovering. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. Wishing you good health. Take care.
