Suggest Treatment For Migraine And Vertigo

I get migraines and vertigo. I just put my head down and got a funny feeling I have never had before. It was a tingling that sort of spread across my head and into my right arm. It only lasted about 10 seconds, but it scared me. Do you think this could be migraine related? I feel a slight headache now.

Neurologist 's  Response
Hello,

It is very difficult sometimes to tell the difference in symptoms between migraine symptoms that are complexes such as sensory feelings or another phenomenon that could be an aura of a headache from symptoms that are related to TIA's or even Strokes in evolution.

In your case, however, the sensation was so brief (10 seconds) that the chance of it actually being the manifestation of a blood clot in the brain causing feelings into the arm but then, disappearing that quickly is very very low.

Still, if you do have risk factors for stroke then, you may be well advised to consult the neurologist following you for your migraine headaches because a workup may be in order if this has never happened to you before.

If you do not have a neurologist then, this may be a good time to find one that is knowledgeable in both headaches and strokes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dariush Saghafi, Neurologist
