Hi, I ve had mild dyshidrotic excema for about 3 and a half years now, and I woke up this morning with a small patch that seemed to have pus under the skin and was extremely painful to walk on, move, or even touch- it s most likely an infection, but could it be anything else? And if so, what should I do to treat it? P.S. I m allergic to lanolin and triple antibiotics such as Neosporin, and i ve beenputting Mupirocin on it with a band-aid; this seems to make it better to where the skin looks like it does when you leave a band-aid on it for too long. It also seems to have greatly reduced pain. Is this bad for it?
Hi. As per your case history of dyshidrotic eczema, my treatment advice is - 1. Don't scratch the lesions as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like fusiderm-b cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for itching. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
