Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Have mitral valve prolapse. Once had a severe episode after drinking a large coffee. So no caffeine coffee, only caffeine free so do not bother drinking any. Chocolate is fine. Can I attempt a real coffee? It has been 8 years since I had a good cup after the incident..
Hi welcome to HCM. Patients with mitral valve prolapse are often asymptomatic. But they can occasionally experience symptoms like ectopics. These can be exaggerated in presence of caffeinated drinks.Hence i recommend you to not to have large amounts of true coffee. But having said that you a occasionally ,say once a week a cup of coffee especially when you are not experiencing ectopics.Consult your cardiologist for further queries. Thank you.
