Hi my father who is 90, has had a stroke. He also has heart failure (@20%). Diabetes and yesterday had a blood transfusion. His hemoglobin was at 7. He lives at a nursing home and tries to do physical therapy. He yells alot and then cries alot. Last few days talks about where his burial will be. My mom is 85 and having a hard time. How long can this go on?
this is a critical condition as your father is aged and might be in a condition of mental shock due to fear of death. such situation demands extremly sensitive and sympathetic management along with medical management.you need to consult psychiatrist, psychologist and a general physician. his haemoglobin is low, this can also result in to impaired mental functioning.your father requires iron injections and diet rich in iron like grean leafy vegetable, coarse cereals, jaggery, milk and egg.
simultaneously your mother also needs emotional support at this hour.she needs a company to speak to.and same time you need to be strong.i wish good health to your family.
