Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom of 85 years young just underwent a cardiac catheter and they found out that she has myocarditis. She also has COPD which she's had for years. What treatment, if any, can they do for myocarditis. She just had an echocardiogram done a month ago and this did not show up.
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. Myocardial biopsy necessary to identify cause. 2. Usually corticosteroid are given to reduce inflammation. 3. Cause needs identification. Maybe infection, usually viral. Depending upon cause needs symptomatic and specific treatment. 4. More details of echo, biopsy and previous clinical history along with medication necessary for further opinion. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
