Suggest Treatment For Neck And Back Pain After Injury

:Yes I am a 81 yr old woman who fell and broke my neck...C2. The doctor put me in a neck brace for 2 months and on doing a cat-scan it showed that the fracture was worse and did not heal. He recommended surgery with screws or since the Xrays showed that it was stable so recommended a slow procedure of removing the brace/and or collar a little at a time. Amazingly, I do not have any pain other than slight muscle ache occasionly. Why does it not heal and what made it worse??? I did normal lifestyle duties which included some lifting...sometimes 10 to 20 pounds when housecleaning. I will see him in 2 months and he will check it again. I also am suffering back pain from a previous auto accident so I have 6 screws and 4 cages in lumbar spine 2 L to 5L lumbar vertebrae. Surgery is scheduled for that when I am released from the neck problem. PLEASE ADVISE. Can I go about normally even tho it is not healing??? THANK YOU . NANCY
