Suggest Treatment For Non-productive Persistent Cough, Choking Sensation And Fever
yes, I have been having a persistent cough non productive no fever hx of gerd and sensation of choking ongoing for the last several months. I was seen by my primary last month for this given an inhaler w/ minimal relief no wheezing just a sensation that I am unable to clear my throat.
I'm sorry to hear you've been having a cough and sensation of choking for several months. First, I would make sure a chest X-ray looks normal, and that you are not on a ACE inhibitor medication for blood pressure (like lisinopril).
Given that you have a history of GERD, I would make sure you have treated this first, usually with maximum dose of a PPI like Omeprazole. Postnasal drip can also cause a chronic cough, you could try using a nasal steroid spray like Flonase and see if that helps with your symptoms.
If not improvement I would want to do nasoendoscopy to look in your upper airway and esophagus to rule out any lesions there.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
