Suggest Treatment For Numb Sensation After A Head Injury

I fell two days ago and hit my head on the rear left side. I have never hit my head so hard. The brunt of the impact was about an inch behind my left ear. When I touch the bump or any area around the bump (incl above the injury up to the top of my scalp and around the back of my head) it feels as though I have had a novacaine shot and it is a very odd numb-like sensation. Should I see at doctor?

Hello. I have been through your question and understand your concern.

The numbness sensation derives from the compression of the occipital nerve which passes nearby. You should not be worried because it passes in a few days. But you can some NSAIDs meanwhile with ibuprofen 600 mg daily being the best option.

Wish you the best health.
