Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It sounds like you've suffered a significant injury with the tip still present which probably cannot be surgically removed. 4 months is not a long time to remain disabled after an injury like this and so as long as you are undergoing active rehabilitation and trying to retrain the muscles I see no reason why SOME IMPROVEMENT cannot be expected. In fact, there are biomechanical devices available that could potentially assist with your walking so that you are not limping as much. BOTOX injections could also be a possible alternative to assist with chronic pain of spasmed back or leg muscles though one must remember that BOTOX also weakens muscle to some extent so one needs to be careful as to how much is applied and how often it is reapplied.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dariush Saghafi
