Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
having obsessive thoughts in the evening (imagination running away with me, envisioning terrible things happening to my daughters over night) thus making it hard for me to sleep. I've tried, taking a walk, reading, and some herbal/ OTC things but nothing is helping. Hoping my dr. will prescribe something. How do I bring this up?
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.
From the description of your symptoms, you are likely to be suffering from an obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). However a detailed history and psychological assessment is necessary to confirm the diagnosis. Since this seems to be causing you a lot of distress and has not resolved with self-help measures, I would advise that you seek professional help.
There are effective treatment options - in the form of SSRI medication and psychotherapy, which will help you overcome your problems. So, please do not hesitate to consult a psychiatrist for further evaluation and treatment.
Wish you all the best.
Regards, Dr. Jonas Sundarakumar MBBS., DPM., MRCPsych.(U.K.) Consultant Psychiatrist
