Suggest Treatment For Occasional Lump In Throat When Swallowing
I just started singing again and I believe I may have done something horrible to my voice. I was driving home one day and, without warming up, I attempted to sing as high as possible in my head voice. I felt something in my throat move when I did this. I can still sing but I have refrained from doing so as much as possible. I am auditioning to enter the music program at my college on the ninth and I have to practice with one of the professors on Monday Dec 1st Here are my symptoms all mainly on the left side of my throat: -Occasional lump in throat when swallowing -irritated throat after talking to much. -Occasianal itchy left ear and throat -Occasional crack in voice. What can I do to quickly heal before my audition. Also can I practice on Monday or should I ask to wait until a later date?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Discomfort in throat, cracking of voice after attempting to sing in high pitch is suggestive of trauma to vocal cords. Sudden high pitch voice can lead to small hemorrhages in the vocal cords and thus discomfort. The trauma to the vocal cords is managed by providing rest to voice and avoiding voice abuse. Feeling of itchiness in throat can be associated with trauma to vocal cords. Itchiness in the ear can be due to infection. Fungal infections are known to cause itching in the ear. Consult your ENT specialist for clinical assessment and thus management.
