I had a wisdom tooth removed in Sept. 2013 - in October I started getting headaches. I have seen lots of doctors and had an x-ray, an MRI and was diagnosed with Occipital Neuralgia. Basically I was told to take ibuprophen and sent away. It is now Jan. 2015 and I still have headaches. Any suggestions?
If all the drugs show to be ineffective in your situation, I would recommend to consult with a neurosurgeon. The intervention of occipital nerve stimulation has shown good results in cases of persistent occipital neuralgia.
Hope to have been of help!

Suggest Treatment For Occipital Neuralgia
Hello! Thank you for your question on HCM! I understand your concern. I would recommend to start therapy with Indomethacine twice daily for ten days, if you have no contraindications to this drug. Other drugs very effective in Occipital Neuralgia are Gabapentine or Lamotrigine, which are antiepileptic drugs. If all the drugs show to be ineffective in your situation, I would recommend to consult with a neurosurgeon. The intervention of occipital nerve stimulation has shown good results in cases of persistent occipital neuralgia. Hope to have been of help! Greetings! Dr. Iliri
