Hello,
I had my 1st baby 12 weeks ago, she was 7 weeks permature. I suffered from oedema from my toes up to my knees in the last couple of months of this pregnancy, and had a lot of fluid come away over 4 days prior to the birth. The oedema got worse after birth, not to mention the complications that occurred with the emergency caesarian - which resulted in lots of oedema in my abdomen aswell - i ended up on antibiotics for this.
My feet/toes/ankles do get a little better when i elevate them, but it never goes away completely - it throbs from time to time.
Am getting conflicting advice - some people say it would be gone by 12 weeks post birth (now at 12 & 1/2 weeks!) and others are saying i may never get rid of it!
How can i help get rid of this fluid? Is this normal? My own doctor does not seem bothered at all. I still can't wear anything other than flip flops, and my thighs hurt when i kneel down - with the fluid.
I try to be as active as i can, go out with the pram daily, go swimming 2 -3 times each week, as well as on the go 24/7 with this newborn, my husband works off-shore, so doing this solo a lot!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
many thanks,
Julie
