my husband had a Bx of the rt Parotid gland which was positive for neoplasm. The differential diagnosis included oncocytoma, Warthin tumor, and acinic cell carcinoma. I tried looking up these last words and can t find anything. The surgeon recommends surgery within the next 6 months. He is getting chemo for multiple myeloma also with Remelmid and Velcade. Could you explain the differential Dx? The surgeon said it could be benign or Cancer. Thank you my email is cactuspainting @yahoo.com
Differential diagnosis can only be thought in primary stage of clinical examination and it could be oncocytoma, treatment for the oncocytoma could be surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, depends upon the stage of lesion but confirmation of diagnosis is must and for that biopsy is necessary.
