Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a knee problem. Because of Osteoarthritis, my knees are bone on bone , hardly any space left. However, I can still walk. MD prescribed Mobic 15 mg daily x 2 mos. I have a pacemaker because of Atrial Fibrillation and Atrial Tachycardia that causes lightheadness. My question is: What effect does Mobic have to my heart ? Thank you. ..My name is Ossie
Hello I would suggest you to be on simpler medicines like acetaminophen since meloxicam (mobic) may be unsafe for heart patients, as I have studied the precaution list. You may consult your doctor again if he agrees for change of medicine. I would advise to go for physical therapy of joint, hot fomentation, mild exercise of joint and application of diclofenac gel to the joint as it may be effective as oral medicie, acetaminophen may also be taken SOS for pain
Hello, I have studied your case. Mobic is a antinflamamtory medicine and it causes pain relief and decrease in swelling. It can cause rise in blood pressure if taken for long time but if you take it for five to ten days than there is no harm. I would suggest you following. 1.Static quadriceps 2.Hot water fomentatio 3.Volini gel local application 4.Static quadriceps exercises. I hope these steps will be helpful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions. thanks
