I am due to fly to Valencia soon and have been diagnosed with a 10cm cyst on ovary. The doctor said either wait for 6 months and have another scan or make appt to discuss surgery. Should I take out medical insurance or is the EU medical card enough to cover should anything happen such as rupture
Your findings suggests large ovarian cyst.It is important to know whether it is simple or complex cyst. You are rightly suggested for follow up scan. You need proper clinical examination and further investigations. You may need surgical removal of cyst if it is symptomatic or if it increases in size. Tumour marker like CA 125 should also be assessed.Contrast CT of abdomen can also be done after evaluation. If it is asymptomatic then it is not an emergency. If it cases pain then it may need immediate attention.
