Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was approved for a cervical epidural steroid injection in my left C6/7 for pain and neck inflammation. When I received the injection it was given in my Thoracic area, between my shoulder blades in middle of back. I m confused isn t the purpose of the injection to relieve pain and inflammation in my neck. I think they put it in the wrong place?
Dear patient Epidural steroid injection is given to relieve pain and inflammation due to disc prolapse.since you were having C6c7 disc prolapse injection should be given at the site of disc space level C6c7 which lies at the base of neck and not between shoulder blade. Injection is given after confirmation of disc space level under ii television guidance so it has to be in correct site. But if disc space was not identified correctly then it may be given at wrong space.
