Hello. i was playing football and when i kicked the ball, someone blocked my shot and kicked my toe in the process (the big toe on my right foot to be specific). It really hurt at first but i payed no attention to it. that was around a week ago. Now my toe is black and bruising at the corner. It wasnt that painful before but last night it started to hurt real bad and now its swelling. what can i do? thank you very much! :D

hi,
thanks for the question,
Direct injury to the great toe of this nature can cause both only soft tissue injury and soft tissue + bony injury.
Now since the pain has increased in severity and bruising persists , x ray needs to be taken and fracture has to be ruled out.If no fracture , then just cold packs with pain killers. But if there is fracture , then strapping may be needed in addition.
