Suggest Treatment For Pain In Foot Due To Calcified Knot In Heel

I received a phone call today that my x-ray showed I have a calcified knot on the back of my left heel; nothing more. What can I do to reduce the pain? It hurts sometimes when I have on house shoes......wrapping with an ace bandage? Would that give it support?

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
Dear Sir/ Madam,
Thank you for posting your query at healthcaremagic.com

It look like you have heel spur due to calcium deposit around the heel which is also called as calcanium spur.
I advise you to consult a physiotherapist, he/she will give
-ultrasound and
- taping which will help in reducing the pain
- recommend shoe modification/ wedge insole, to release the pressure from spur.
- Exercises

Apart for this, I advice you to do ankle and foot streching exercise every day.
Usually in morning you will find it more pain in initial step that is due to planter fascia getting extended/ stretch from shorten position,
I advice you to do -
-active exercise and stretching exercise before you get out the bed.
-Hot water fermentation will increase the blood supply and relaxes the muscle. You can immerse the part in warm water tub(temperature you can tolerate).

Still if pain persist, you can consult the orthopedic doctor who will asses the length of growth and advise the further course of action.

Please let me know if you would like to know any further information, will be happy to assist you.

With best wishes,
tehzib saiyed
