Suggest Treatment For Pain In Left Breast Area With Numbness In Arm
I am a 22 yr old woman. Starting about a day ago I have had a sharp pain in my left breast area and my left arm would feel numb/tingley. If I breath in heavily the sharp pain increases. I used to get this pain randomly through out my life. I haven't had it now since about june. I don't really know why this happens. For the pain I have had now it has lasted for 24 hrs it has never lasted this long usually it does a quick sharp pain off and on for 10 mins and then goes away...
At 22, the chance of heart as a source of symptoms is low. Low is not zero. In particular, the lining outside of the heart may cause discomfort and reoccur repeatedly. I usually will review symptoms of reflux (burning, sometimes meal related, often lasting longer than 30 minutes or occurring at rest) and musculoskeletal pain (positional and localized with a finger). From what you've described, the first step that I would recommend to someone in my office is an over the counter anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen. A trial, paying attention to any improvement, even if incomplete, will be important information for your doctor should your symptoms persist.
