Suggest Treatment For Pain In Left Part Of Neck Which Radiates To Chest

I ve been having pain in the left part of my neck and it radiates down to my chest, shoulder blade and around the armpit. I ve taken painkillers but it only masks the pain a for while. The doctor said it could be a compressed nerve thus causing neck spasms. At the same time, I feel dizziness and weakness. I don t feel they are spasms. I m 31yo and eat a healthy diet daily.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a pinched nerve in the neck. I recommend to use anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen to relieve the pain. I also suggest to avoid movements of the neck that can trigger the symptoms. If the pain continues, you should see a neurologist for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
