Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I tripped up the stairs 8 days ago and whacked the area just below my knee/top shin area on a metal plate on the steps edge. It hurt considerably, but showed no bruising for 2 days. I found it very difficult to walk up stairs, as it was painful. I was able to walk by using my other leg as a bit of a brace to prevent full bending. Now I can walk, but I have do it slowly, it still hurts when I take stairs, and at the end of the day after much walking (10-15 mins between office buildings)/ walking for more than 15 mins my leg aches. I m beginning to pull muscles in other parts of my LEGS due to overcompensating. Should I see a doctor/can you tell me what it may be ?
Dear patient Since 8 days has passed and still have difficulty in walking upstairs it needs to be examined and investigated. There is a possibility of bone contusion and ligament injury to knee. Please consult expert orthopaedic surgeon nearby you and nd get yourself examined. I would and device mri of the knee which will help in diagnosis of ligament and bony injuries. Meanwhile take tab diclofenac plus serratiopeptodase combination twice a day for pain relief. Wear knee cap to the injured knee. All the best.
