Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Upper Right Arm?
I am 67. About 2/3 months back started having pain in my upper right arm. My doctor suggested x-rays of the neck and right shoulder, and detected distance between c5 and c6 reduced. Suggested neck collar and physiotherapy. No benefit. Dull pain duirng the day but while sleeping it is throbbing and generally wake up of pain. Hot compress (hot bottle) also not helping, but sometimes feel pain increases. Can you suggest a possible cause and treatment. could it be a malignancy or something like this
Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you may be having cervical disc prolapse. It may be confirmed by MRI of lumbar spine. MRI also excludes other conditions.I treat most of my patients empirically by clinical grounds only. Heat and analgesics are soothing. Diclofenac/ibuprofen can be effective but in this condition pain is severe so sometimes tramadol is given. Rest to cervical spine(neck) is most important till pain is relieved. Cervical collar can be used to prevent unguarded movements. Mecobalamine is helpful in recovery. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. Wishing you good health. Take care.
