Suggest Treatment For Painful Bowel Movements With Blood

Hi Sir, I am Shekar from Hyderbad. I have been suffering from lack of free motions in morning. Daily it is causing to go for motions for 2 to 3 times. More over, some times suffering from pain from that part and coming blood while going motions...Even I am unable to sit properly daily because of this pain from bottom. Kindly advise me. I have consulted local doctor and advised to use Nor-Metrogyl tablets and rantac etc.. my email Id is YYYY@YYYY

Hi,

The most common cause I can think for the painful hard stools that cause blood in stool and the pain persists later on also is a condition called fissure-in-ano. In this condition, there is a small cut at the anal verge caused by passage of hard stool over the edge.

I would advise you the following in such a situation:
- Sitz bath in a tub with warm water.
- Take Isabgol husk with 2 glass of water in the morning and at bedtime as this will help to keep the stool well formed yet soft and not cause further trauma to the anal verge.
- Take an anti-inflammatory with painkiller property like Ibuprofen if it suits you.
- Consult a General Surgeon for examination and ano-proctoscopy after the healing and pain settlement.
- Get the stool and blood tested and may need an antibiotic cover if there is any infection in the stools.

If the problem is long standing and does not resolve by medications then a small surgery like Sphincterotomy or Lord's Anal Dilation can help you the best.
