Hello,

It could be due to skin cysts, Bartholin's cysts, ingrown pubic hair that has become filled with pus over time and now is itchy and painful. You are suggested to be very careful while shaving or waxing, it may be due to an allergic reaction to it. Do not scratch, touch or pluck. Take care of your hygiene, you can apply hydrocortisone ointment / cream to ease itching. Always keep the genital skin dry, apply a thin layer of herbal moisturizer. Avoid douching.

Apply warm / cold compress and take Combiflam, one SOS to get relief from pain. You can visit a gynecologist to get blood, skin test and biopsy done. If its skin cyst, abscess or Bartholin's cyst, it may need to be either get drained or removed by minor surgery. To be on the safer side, get STD tests done to rule out STIs like herpes infection (HSV) or genital warts. If it is not STD, you can visit a dermatologist and get it removed by laser treatment for cosmetic reasons.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
