I felt a sharp pop near my lower left rib last Friday night. I stood up from the sitting position I was in and within 2 minutes I had a lot of pain. Today is Thursday and I have had an xray and a sonogram but there was no indication of a rib fracture. My doctor put me on 3 advils 3 times a day since that and told me to come back in 5 days. The three advils do take the edge off the pain but within 4 hours of taking the 3 advils the pain comes back. If i cannot cough, sometimes I cannot take a deep breadth and my left side had a bump on my lower left rib and swelling to the left of it. The bump feels very solid and it runs about two inches along my lower left rib. When I am standing I can pretty much manage but sitting it much more difficult. I do not know what to do.
