Hello, I believe I accidentally sliced open my labia minora while trimming my pubic hair with scissors. Its been a couple weeks. I thought it was a minor cut so I didn t pay much attention to it. I have given myself minor cuts in that area before and they have healed by themselves. But I noticed every time I touch around that area I experienced a slight pain, so I examined the area with a mirror and noticed that my labia minora had be sliced open. I had never noticed blood or any indication of infection. Does this area of the vagina heal itself over time? May I need stitches? Is there any remedy I may use at home? Should there be any reason for concern?
Hello, Thanks for trusting us with your health concern. In the current scenario, I would ask you to get a proper clinical examination by a specialist to decide further management. It should be seen what is the extent of the injury and what is the mode of treatment needed. Meanwhile, you can try ice packs to reduce the edema and avoid infection by using mild antiseptic solution to clean the genital area. Leave the injured area open to allow healing. Avoid tight undergarments. Avoid sexual intercourse. Small cuts heal naturally while larger ones need repair. Since you did not have any bleeding, it is possible that it is a small superficial tear. Hope this helps.
