I did the salt and ice challenge about a week ago and my skin has turned a black/brown color. Now my skin has started to peel. I was wondering if i should peel the rest of the skin off. Some of it is already off and its white/pinkish under (looks like fresh skin recovering).
I understand our concern for the peeling of the skin all over the body.
After reading your query it appears that you have got "Keratolysis" of the skin after the salt and ice challenge.
It is quite common to find such kind of peeling of the skin due to acute damage to the skin by the salt and cold water. There is formation of dead skin on the superficial part of the skin which causes the skin to look black and brown and start to peel off.
In my patients of your kind of situation I suggest to apply plenty of moisturizing cream containing good amount moisturizing factors and humectant. Apply bland coconut oil over the skin.
Do not try to peel the rest of the skin as can cause premature falling and pigmentation. Use a broad spectrum sunscreen on face to prevent any pigmentation on face.
All the best.
