Hello As you described in your query that you got relief from cold but COUGH remain persist . This cough is from childhood , may be due to these reasons, these include. 1 Asthmatic allergic bronchitis all the symptoms are an indication of asthma . When such type of cases visit my clinic I advise them to take monteleukast+ bambuterole tablet once or twice in day , depending on the condition and severity of symptoms . 2 Allergic rhinitis is another most common cause due to inflammation of nasal lining membrane . When such patient visit and they don t have whistling sound ( wheezing ) during , I prescribe them to take monteleukast + levoceterizine tablet once or twice in day . 3 Allergic bronchitis is another most common cause of such symptoms . All above mentioned diseases are due to allergy and allergens may be dust, pollen , molds , pests ( cockroaches ) , hay , fodder, fine dusting powder , sudden change in temperature . So if possible avoid these predisposing factors . I also advise patients to take cough syrup containing dextromethophan+ cholrpheniramine maleat+ ambroxol ( to facilitate mucus ,if infection).
