I have been coughing for 6weeks. I have had 2 rounds of antibiotic and feel ok but the cough is going away slowly. I have coughed so hard for so long that my ribs are sore all over but especially on the back left. When coughing a little while ago I heard a pop and have some worse pin in the area. I don t have trouble breathing and it doesn t hurt to breath. It hurts a lot to cough, sneeze, and to lie down. Could this be a cracked rib? I have Los been using as inhaler and Advil.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Read and understood your history of persistent coughing for which you are taking treatment. The coughing is so hard that your ribs have become sore and has a pop on the left back. Although you do not have pain at breathing at rest, it hurts to cough, sneeze and to lie down.
This is definitely indicative of a fractured rib at the back side unless proved otherwise. I would advise you the following: Clinical evaluation and examination by a Doctor, 'X-ray or CT scan to confirm the problems.
There is as such no specific treatment for undisplaced frature of the ribs.
I hope this answers your query, '
