Hi, i ve had palpitations for some years but occurring daily and intermittantly during each day now since i had an early morning Angina attach which landed me in hospital for a week with Drs trying to discover cause. None was conculsive except Ct showedd a small Thoracic Aortic aneurysm . Some palpataions are quite hard and thump often feeling like my heart is aching like mucsle ache. I ve recently worn sn event monitor for week. I stopped keeping diary details when i found myself more or less taking notice of every heart beat. However palpatations continuesd and still do. Several days after returning monitor the cardiologist called and said the problem was benign and he d make an appt to see me in several months time. What does Benign mean in my duagnosis and why are palpatations occuring so regularly? Slso ihad Rheumatic Fever of the heart as an 11yr old, I m active person and almost 71yrs of age, height 168cm weight 70kg
Hi welcome to hcm I understand your query and concern. Persistent palpitations in your case are suggestive of any arrhythmias of heart which means abnormal conduction abnormality of heart.I advise you to get an ECG,2 D Echo of your heart immediately to confirm the diagnosis.I also advise you to get lipid profile, complete blood picture, chest x ray immediately as a part of routine check up.Drugs like Amiodarone,Betaloc,Pantop 40 mg will be helpful in your case.Avoid stress and anxiety.Avoid smoking ,alcohol, fatty foods.Abnormal lipid profile if present in your case should be treated with atorvastatin.Monitor blood pressure and heart rate immediately.EP study and radiofrequency ablation will be the procedure of choice.Consult your cardiologist for expert management. Post your further queries if any, Thank you.
