Suggest Treatment For Persistent Productive Cough Despite Taking A Round Of Antibiotics
I have had a cough for almost 7 weeks now and have gone through an entire round of antibiotics (finished a week ago) and yet I m still coughing. It has gotten a little better, but I m still coughing up phlegm sometimes. Should I go back to the doctor or just wait it out because it s probably a virus?
Persistent cough could be due to allergic and viral bronchitis, tuberculosis. I would suggest to consult pulmonologist and undergo detail examination, PFT, sputum test and culture, chest x-ray to confirm cause. Specific treatment will depend on cause.
