Hi Doc My hubby was smoking since long time and he has had just quit it last year. After quiting it he has facing few problems like gaining weight, red balls or pimples all over the face and chest and upset tummy after eating little spicy food. Can you suggest are these problems relate with quiting smoke and what he should be doing to get rid of these. Thanx
Some of the symptoms you described match the withdrawal of smoking while other don't. You might wait for sometime as abnormal digestion and skin rashes can occur following nicotine withdrawal. If the things do not settle in 1-2 weeks which is the normal time for withdrawal symptoms to vanish, then consult a doctor. In the meantime keep him motivated and ensure that he he is supported by you during this period of tobacco cessation. Avoid spicy food for him and encourage him to wash his face frequently.
