General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. - PCOD is a condition where ovulation is disturbed due to hormonal imbalance. -so it directly affects conception. It is a common disorder found now a days ,though deserves concern, but can be easily managed by self care /medication/surgery ( in few cases) Treatment consists of reduction in weight.( You have been prescribed Tab. glyciphase for reducing).. Try to restrict caloric intake, do regular exercises along with the medicine. REduction in weight results in improved ovulation many a times. -Your doctor may start with ovulation stimulating drug ( clomiphene) if needful. Many a times the condition is relieved with 6 months treatment of medicines. - Resistant cases are subjected to laperoscopic drilling of ovary to release the PCOD & restart normal ovulation. A planned conception after ovulation restart leads to conception . please don't worry. Thanks.
