Suggest Treatment For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome And Irregular Menstruation

Hello, I ve been having infrequent periods for the last year - sometimes 3 months go in between menstruation. I know that s not healthy, and I ve been to my Gyno 3 times for it now, and he hasn t been very helpful. My main concern about that right now is that I just started my period after 10 weeks since the last one, and I m passing large chunks of flesh. I would have thought they were clots but they actually clogged my shower drain and I had to remove them . There were three distinct pieces, and they were fleshy and not blood clots. They were about 4 inches in length and 2 inches wide roughly. Just a brief history that may help you- I am 34, have had 2 children and those were my only 2 pregnancies, I have pcos and pelvic vein congestion and had a leep procedure done about 5 years ago to remove half my cervix because of precancerous cells. Thank you so much for your time, -Ginger

Hi,

I would recommend you to get an per speculum examination done by a Gynaecologist to see your cervix .I assume you must be doing regular follow up with PAP smears for your cervix , but even then to get an examination by a Gynaecologist with your present symptoms would be required.
This would be to rule out anything abnormal with your cervix. Another test which you will require is the ultrasound pelvis ,as women with prior PCOS are predisposed to endometrial cancer and passing heavy clots could be a sign of it. If the endometrial lining is thickened on sonography you will need an hysteroscopy with biopsy .
Both cervical and endometrial cancer are serious conditions which require immediate medical attention. Please see an gynecologist soon.
If both are ruled out it would be due to PCOS then ,it would be best that you start metformin for it. As taking hormonal pill in your case, as you also had pelvic vein congestion, would not be recommended.
Hope this helps.
