Hi I am suffering with Postherpetic neauralgia after having shingles. I am looking for a herbal remedy to give relief from the burning and itching which accompanies this condition. I have recently found a site which recommends Geranium and or Lavender oil. Combining these with a base oil. putting it on the affected area and then using a warmed wheat bag I am getting some relief for up to four hours before the burning and itching returns. Is there any herbal medicine that will help to heal the nerve endings? Incidentally I am taking blood thinners and blood pressure medication.
hi. I have read your question and understand your concern.
herbal remedies improve post herpetic neuralgia by their virtue of counter irritation. if you do not develop any allergic reaction to the said herbal remedy then you can continue it. but if you develop itching I suggest you stop using it.
other herbal remedies available are capsaicin. it's a well proven treatment for neuropathy.
if you still have the problem then you can visit a pain clinic and discuss about pregabalin, tramadol and nerve blocks.
hope this helps. for any further questions please get back to us. thanks.
