You have to consider the ages of both of you. At the age of 40 years, the egg formation is not as regular as during the earlier years of life. Moreover, all the eggs that are released may not be healthier for normal pregnancy, few of them could be even stale. The chances of abnormal child at the advanced age of woman are high. Of course, at the age of 40 years, normal pregnancies are know and reported. If you are not getting pregnant as easily as you got earlier, I would advice you to get your egg formation checked by ultrasonography; also get your partner's semen examined in the laboratory. If the reports are normal, you can time your sexual intercourses as coinciding with the egg formation as directed by ultrasonographic ovulation monitoring. Ultrasonographic ovulation monitoring is usually done from the 9th day of the cycle onwards. Your ultrasonologist will advise you properly.
