Psychiatrist 's  Response
Dear Mr. Ravi,

I can understand your distress regarding premature ejaculation. It is bound to cause sexual dissatisfaction in you and your wife. However, it is a condition which is amenable to treatment.

You should seek a psychiatric consultation for treatment of your condition. Treatment with both medications and behaviour therapy will be helpful. Participation of your wife in the behaviour therapy sessions would be highly helpful.

Medications would include selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors like paroxetine (daily) or dapoxetine on as required basis. Behaviour therapy sessions would incorporate relaxation training, sex education and learning methods like squeeze technique, start-stop method and distraction.

Hope this information was helpful. Best wishes.
