Suggest Treatment For Profuse Rectal Bleeding Due To Hemorrhoid
Hello, I have a Hemmeroid on the upper part of my rectum closest to the tailbone, whenever I have a bowel movement I have profuse bleeding from the area that had become so heavy it has turned the color of the toilet water red and drenches the toilet paper. I am currently at work and wondering if I need to go into the ER to get it taken care of. I would only be able to use an ambulance at this time due to lack of transportation.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of bleeding hemorrhoids are at work, no transportation and hence ambulance may be needed to go to ER. Since you are bleeding so heavily, you need to go to the ER as it is possible that emergency tying up the hemorrhoid will save you from further bleeding attacks and more importantly the resultant anemia. Thence consult a General Surgeon to get a proper diagnosis by clinical evaluation, per-rectal examination, proctoscopy and colonoscopy to rule out any primary cause. Proper diagnosis will lead to proper surgical procedure to get a permanent relief.
