Suggest Treatment For Prolonged Constipation

I have constipation since childhood. I am 64 and now I feel like I want to have a BM but the stool does not evacuate. Or I will take fiber, magnesium, and only very soft stool comes out, not a stool, It feels as if something tight is preventing the stool to pass also. Occasionally I will have a BM but regularly.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, it may be due to chronic constipation. You can take syp. lactulose at night after consultation. You may require ultrasound abdomen or CT abdomen after consultation. Along with that drink lot of fluids. take soft food. Do regular exercises.
Take care.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
