Suggest Treatment For Pulse Feeling In My Ears

Hello there! I accidentally inserted a cotton bud into my ear a couple of days ago. This was not due to negligence; I am always very careful and never insert buds into the ear canal. It was an accident. I had a bud just resting in my ear, forgot for a split second and caught it with my arm. I will never do it again! The bud did go into my ear with some force and I quickly, but gently removed it. There was a little blood and it seemed ok, just a little sore for the rest of the day. A couple of days fine but today I can hear a pounding-like pulse in my ear that stops for short intervals and then returns. The ear feels a bit itchy, numb and I would say it is more irritating rather than painful. Do you think it is possibly swollen and will heal itself? Thank you for your time. I am a 36 year old woman, 5ft tall and weigh 7 stone. I have no health problems or illnesses in my medical history.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms could be related to a local outer ear infection, probably due to the irritation. For this reason, I would recommend using locally some boric acid ear drops, in order to prevent infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
