Suggest Treatment For Purple Rash On Neck And Chest
my daughter has a severe rash on her neck and chest, purplish coloring around her eyes. Rash is burning, itchy and very red. She has low ferritin, low white blood cell count and low neutrophite count and low calcium. She is very tired and lethargic. We have been to allergist sho said it was not an allergy and suspected it is related to a skin barrier issue internatlly. Dermatologist can t treat it with metrocycline because of the low neutrophites. Any suggestions?
hi. I have read your question and understand your concern.
purple rash around eyes, neck and chest along with lethargy are suggestive of dermatomyositis. low white cell counts can also be associated.
dermatomyositis is an autoimmune disease which primarily affects skin and muscles. sun exposed skin is affected. muscles of shoulder and hip are mainly affected.
to confirm the diagnosis you can get the following investigations done: 1. ESR 2. CRP 3. RA factor 4. ANA 5. CPK-MM
please see a rheumatologist and meanwhile avoid sun exposure.
hope this has answered your question. for any further queries please feel free to contact us. thanks.
