Suggest Treatment For Puss Discharge After Haemmoredectomy

Good afternoon Doctor,

I had hemorrhoids removed through haemmoredectomy in June 2013. It is over 6 months now and I am still having puss like discharges. A doctor looked and said the wound has not fully healed and advised me to keep doing sitz bath daily after which I should put my hands in the anus and stretch the walls using a numbing ointment. Is my situation normal? And should I continue with the procedure recommended by the doctor?

Regards,

Uche

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

Pus discharge definitely suggests that the wound has not yet healed and it has also got secondarily infected.

In such a case i would ask my patient to take an oral antibiotic (penicillin group) for a week

Topical antibacterial cream/ointment like 2% mupirocin twice daily would help in resolving the infection.

Once the infection resolves you can continue with the stretching routine.

take care
regards
