I am taking Selara shots (First one one week ago). I have pustular psoriasis and the only thing that has helped it is Prednisone. My dermatologist doesn t want me using Prednisone any longer but to wait and see how the Selara works. I am in agony. How long is the maxiumum it will take to work?
Your details suggest that you can certainly get better with the use of alternate treatment plans. One such plan involves giving Methotrexate which is an anti metabolite and the doctor will give you a thorough check up especially related to liver functions before prescribing the drug for you.
My patients with Pustular Psoriasis do exceedingly well with this treatment as it is much safer than Prednisolone or any other treatment and since one needs the treatment over a long period of time, this drug fits the bill perfectly.
You are requested to allow the lesions to fade away without any local applications except hygienic measures and some emollient since the pus in these lesions is sterile or without bacteria.
I hope together we can do a lot to ameliorate your discomfort. Our best wishes
