Suggest Treatment For Raised Purple Colored Bumps On Scalp

Hi , my husband is experiencing raised red/ purple coloured bumps through his scalp and upper face including his eyelids. He also has rather large lumps/swelling to the front of and below to the front of one ear. He is sore to touch. He has been to the hospital a few days ago, but the Dr. indicated he thought it was an allergic reaction hand sent him home without any treatment. He has no known allergies. He has had it for one week and it is getting more pronounced and spreading. It is also spreading down the back of his scalp toward his hairline and is sore to touch.
