Suggest Treatment For Rashes On The Buttocks

I have been getting recurring episodes of a rash around my buttocks. I finally had a culture done and was told it is herpes simplex. I have been married for 38 years and never had extramarital sex. But what s more troubling is that it is on my buttocks. My wife never had her mouth on or around my buttocks and I am heterosexual. Why then is the rash always on my buttocks (right side).

Hi.
As per your case history of rashes on buttocks my treatment advice is -
1. It is more likely to be a fungal infection and not herpes as it is not a common site for herpes.
2. Maintain good hygiene and bath twice daily.
3. Apply a mild antifungal cream like clotrimazole cream twice daily on it.
4. Take oral fluconazole 150mg once a week and levocetrizine once at night.

If problem persists beyond 3 weeks then consult a dermatologist.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
