Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of hemorrhoids and itching of the anal area, using preparation H but not helping. There is burning sensation and that you have to itch it too much. Your history is indicative of the following: Peri-anal excoriation due to dermatitis or infection caused by the bacteria of colon during defecation. I would advise you the following: Consult your General Surgeon for clinical evaluation, examination, per-rectal digital examination and ano-proctoscopy. Colonoscopy will help further to rule out any internal problems. Once diagnosed you will need appropriate medical and/or surgical; treatment. Take probiotics and multivitamins to have better healing. If there is only per-anal excoriation you can go for cleaning the area with plain water and application of solution povidone iodine locally. A course of an antibiotic and metronidazole may help to alleviate the symptoms.
