Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 79 years of age and am wondering how long my healing and getting back to normal may be. I am in pretty good health otherwise and deal with a lot of pain. Also, can you tell me more about the procedure of going into my hip in the front and not on the side. What are the pros or that - and cons? Thanks!
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Hip pain in elderly due to many causes most common cause is hip joint osteoarthritis or a secular necrosis or tendinitis or labral tears or infections etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid spicy food and alcohol avoid smoking and caffeine drinks.
Avoid heavy weight lifting and climbing stairs, use tablet.calcium and vitamin b12 etc. Use physiotherapy and regular exercise for muscle strength improvement. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
